About Avalon Yoga Co-op
The truly Co-operative Yoga on the Northern Beaches
Avalon Yoga Co-operative is a group of passionate yoga teachers who have collaborated to bring authentic, affordable yoga to the Avalon community and beyond.
The Co-op was formed in April 2016 and provides a range of classes and workshops including a variety of yoga styles for varying abilities, meditation and mindfulness, as well as specialised classes for children and seniors. Pilates, Reiki and other modalities are also offered.
Our fully equipped, intimate studio is above street level in the Avalon Beach shopping precinct overlooking magnificent jacaranda trees. It provides a calm space to elevate and expand your practice and is one of the only yoga spaces on Sydney’s northern beaches to have a rope wall. Our space is also available for hire for community activities and workshops.
All our teachers are registered and insured with recognised Australian yoga authorities, including Yoga Australia, and provide personalised teaching with correct alignment to suit our broad range of students. Some of our teachers have more than 20 years’ experience and all teachers offer private classes.
Avalon Yoga Co-op was started by six enterprising teachers: Jacqui Giuliano, Jo Longhurst, Christine Hopton, Jenny Segail, Jane Crosland and Tracy Chambers in April 2016.
The rope wall was installed by Jacqui Giuliano whose wonderful teaching expertise continues to inspire despite her passing.
Three of the original six teachers are still involved with the Co-op: Jenny Segail, Jo Longhurst and Christine Hopton. Two more members joined the Co-op in 2017: Sue Broderick and Caroline Kades. Chris Hopton is currently taking a break from teaching but remains part of our Co-op.
